Nicholson is supporting
All that Jack Nicholson-for-Best-Actor-in- The-Departed jazz? Forget it. Warner Bros., I’m hearing, is off the boat on that one. Delicious as he is, Jack is all flavor and feisty backup in that film, which I’ve felt from the beginning. Oscar prognosticators, take note.
Shame. I was hoping he would clear out of supporting and make room for Mark Wahlberg.
Re your Oscar balloon, you can also count CATCH A FIRE as toast as a Best Picture nom. Way too many mixed/negative reviews. Besides, BABEL will probably get the liberal guilt/”Crash” vote here.
And THE QUEEN looks like a lock for a Best Pic nod. Great movie, great title performance, perfect Oscar bait for the Academy types. Done.
