Poland’s admission

While admitting yesterday that he “got played a little” and “was not as careful as I should have been” in posting the since-discredited story about a Weinstein plan to push I’m Not There‘s Cate Blanchett in the Best Actress instead of Best Supporting Actress category, David Poland was correct in saying that Blanchett’s Dylan turn “is one of the five best performances on the year in all categories, male or female or dog or cat, if you were going to pick five…it is easily the current crowning achievement of her career.”

  1. with endless amount of award shows every year, i’m surprised that seemingly every single one divides the acting awards by sex. it’s a little antiquated, no?

now that Hollywood has some talented female writers and directors, imagine if they divided those categories by sex. Never happen, cuz the idea is absurd.

The Globes should begin to separate themselves from the Oscars, and just have two acting awards. Best actor and best supporting actor; all sexes compete against each other.

  2. I’m not going to comment until I see the canine performance in “I Am Legend”. Those in “American Gangster” and “No Country” were fine for what they were (the Academy seems easily impressed by death scences) but not award worthy.

  3. Jeff, you need to update your “If There Was A God” Oscar balloon. In addition to having this performance in the wrong category, you have a bunch of other updates to make.

The dog in NCFOM belongs in the top five.

  5. I like David.I have seen his profile at Richromances.com where many Hollywood celebrities and wealthy people are looking and talking. A hot debate is taking place now among celebrities and moviegoers.
