Nerdiest, Ugliest, Meanest Kids

"Sadly, it feels like the nerdiest, ugliest, meanest kids in the high school are trying to cancel the prom. But NBC wants to try to keep that prom alive.'" -- NBC co-chief Ben Silverman quoted by E! News anchor Ryan Seacrest on 1.7.08 about the cancellation of the Golden Globes Awards telecast due to the WGA strike.

If you give an award in the forest, and there's no one there to accept, is it still an Oscar bellwether?

They're ugly? Oh, screw them, in that case, I'm on the producers' side now. They're handsome and rich.

Oh I love this. Now we come down to the nitty gritty.

But Ben is wrong. He's Neidermyer and the Deltas are the writers.

Except Silverman just fragged himself.

So to keep the prom analogy alive, the students don't want to attend the prom because their teachers are on strike and... the chaperones -- who also happen to be the people perpetuating the teacher's strike -- are complaining because they have nothing better to do than attend proms and complain about shit? Like chaperones, execs and/or producers suck.

Unless the kids decide to get Kevin Bacon to help them secretly have the prom outside of town without the adults finding out? LET THE KIDS DANCE!

I'm surprised Silverman is willing to attack the producers who have been prolonging this strike that way. It's nice when somebody that powerful is honest.

The "ugly" crack was a little strong, but I would think that producers are certainly uglier than the actors who aren't willing to show up at the prom, so I guess it makes sense.

Who is Ben calling ugly? Has he not looked in a mirror?

Also in most high schools the nerds are not the meanest.

I can't believe a network president speaks this way. he sounds like a fucking idiot.

I don't know who's ugly or nerdy, but I do know that trying to get site permits pulled reeks of desperation and poor leadership. In the end the WGA may gets its writers two cents, but there are a lot of people who will never sell a script in LA again.

Oddly, just like in High School, the ugly nerdsters are doing the homework for the jocks and cheerleaders, so said jocks/cheers will sound a hell of a lot smarter than many of them actually are.

Considering I was ever only interested in the after-prom, I'm getting there faster!
