A reliable friend in the creative community (i.e., no suspicious agenda) has written two things in response to the 2008 roundup piece: (a) "I'm hearing Doubt is really good and a likely Oscar contender" and (b) "Also hearing excellent things about things about Milk. Everyone is flipping out about how great Sean Penn is."

I'd say MILK is the easiest thing to bet on right now. You're right in saying the documentary makes everyone cry. When I first saw it in college everyone came out loving it, including me. It's a great story, film wise.

If Josh Brolin nails the White role and Bush in W. he will have had the coolest 2 year hot streak for an actor.

This kind of shit never flies. I heard from so and so - everyone has an agenda -- ESPECIALLY this early in the game. Who the hell are they hearing good things from? The director? A crew member? A publicist? Please. If I had a dolla for every one of these false leads....
