Why does she keep getting cast in these movies? She's not a box office draw and her acting is rarely of award caliber(if ever).

Seriously! I looked at her page at Box Office Mojo and her highest grossing film is The Horse Whisperer, ten years ago... then the Prestige, which I loved but was considered a disappointment. And she's far from the lead in either of those.

I think there's just a perception out there (particularly among casting directors) that she's a lot more popular than she actually is. This is somewhat similar to how Colin Farrell came out of nowhere all of a sudden to become the new hot commodity. Farrell has since paid his dues and justified his status, but Johansson has yet to really prove herself. In the meantime, she'll ride this wave of perception until people start to get wise and say "Wait a minute. What exactly is the big deal with this girl again?"

Ugh, Johansson as Mary, Queen of Scots? Seriously? She was mostly tolerable in Vicky Cristina, but I cannot imagine her in this role.

Flawed as Elizabeth: The Golden Age was overall, Samantha Morton rocked as Mary. Morton has tremendous talent; Johansson has ... nice pouty lips, perky boobs, and the occasional glimmer of possibility on-screen. Not much else.

I'm sorry, but I can't listen to all this Tudor talk without thinking of that old classic novelty song, "With her head tucked underneath her arm".

I thought maybe it was by Tom Lehrer -- it certainly has his sensibility -- but a Google search shows it's an old English music hall tune. I may have heard it on an old Kingston Trio record, filed next to Tom Lehrer in my parent's LP collection.

What we really need is a Mary Queen of Scots with a proper French accent (as would be rather more historically accurate) and less with the platinum blonde hair. And the Boleyn inheritance is about Catherine Howard, isn't it, so wouldn't have any call to feature Mary Boleyn. So they'll have to get another vapid starlet in - but judging by the success of The Tudors on US TV, this looks like being a mini-trend.
