In fairness, I thought they passed over the first few years of the story a little too quickly. Other than that, it’s a very good film.

And I shudder to think about the comments that a simpleton like Lyons could possibly have said re: Synecdoche, NY…

Lyons is a terrible critic, I feel sorry for him when watching him since he is so insecure (and rightly so) and constantly looking for Mankiewicz’s approval. But the way Childress attacks him for it is out of context and stupid. What he said right after the quote here is that Oliver Stone was going to direct the movie at some point and focus on Dan White’s point of view. Therefore he means the last 8 years of Milk’s life as opposed to Dan White’s life, not opposed to Milk’s school years.
