Bucks Up

$48 dollars to listen to Peter Bogdanovich talk to Jerry Lewis at the Times Center (242 West 41st Street) tomorrow night? I've spoken to Lewis (once) and read many interviews with him, and he's always seemed a little too snippy and smug about everything. And I'm wondering, no offense, if it's worth paying nearly $50 bills to hear him talk. If you're going to go off the cliff with jacked-up prices why not charge $78 or $68? Why not $90? I'm not getting a sense of proportion. Order tickets online or by phone at 718.784.4520.

You should go and see if they open it up to questions from the crowd (which I doubt). If they do, ask Lewis about The Day the Clown Cried. I heard he likes to talk about that.

But seriously, what a fascinating story that is.

There are many Lewis heads out there who will gladly pay twice that amount. If I was there I would demand a screening of THE DAY THE CLOWN CRIED::

Actually, it would be worth at least $48.00 to see a screening of THE DAY THE CLOWN CRIED with Harry Shearer (who's written about the film) interviewing Lewis afterwards.

Isn't being called "snippy and smug about everything" by Wells a little like being called "effeminate" by Richard Simmons?

I can't imagine it's a better chat than Dick Cavett's easily YouTube-able interview. Which turned about to be about 10 times more interesting than I expected.
