  1. Malkovich was very good. As always.

Brad Pitt deserved a nomination for Jesse James last year. And he should have gotten a supporting actor nod for Burn this year.

  2. Brad Pitt will NEVER get an Oscar nod in his prime. I think he is doomed to be the Peter O’ Toole of the Oscars and will only end up with one of those “Lifetime Achievement” awards in his old age.

  3. I’m wondering who would have scored this role had Brad dropped out? The part was probably written for a 26 year old. Walberg around the time of Three Kings would have been perfect.

  4. “I think he is doomed to be the Peter O’ Toole of the Oscars”

Isn’t Peter O’Toole the Peter O’Toole of the Oscars?

  5. “Brad Pitt will NEVER get an Oscar nod in his prime.”

Uh, he just did. Unless you mean win an Oscar, which seems like a dangerous argument to make if he continues his run working with great directors.

The way they have been rewarding villains as supporting actors lately…February 2010…Brad Pitt…Inglorious Basterds…laugh now if you want, but you heard it here first.

  7. Please don’t insult O’Toole by comparing him to Pitt. Just compare his historical roles in films like Lawrence of Arabia and The Lion in Winter to Pitt historical epics like Troy and Seven Years in Tibet, though Pitt was fine in Benjamin Button.

That said, Pitt gave a gem of a performance in Burn After Reading that deserved a lot more attention.

  8. Oh please. He doesn’t deserve the nomination he got, but his ‘Burn’ mugging is both as broad and thin as an SNL sketch.
