Showest Standing

Collider‘s Steve Weintraub has just posted some pics of various new standee posters being displayed at Showest, which starts tomorrow in Las Vegas. The only one that got me besides the Hurt Locker poster is the one for Robert Downey, Jr., and the Curse of the Crystal Indiana Holmes.

“If he doesn’t die today, there’s always tomorrow.”

  1. How can you resist mentioning how fat D’Onofrio has gotten? He’s Private Pyle size full-time now. Consistency!

  2. That comes with age. He’s always been naturally inclined in that direction. Body type issues. Nothing to get into.

  3. Totally off topic, but I just finished watching Dear Zachary, and it had me in tears. This has to be one of my favourite documentaries if only because it is somewhat amateur and totally honest. Many twists, many turns, and it’s tragic beyond imagination.

Has anybody seen this yet? It was completely under my radar until I picked it up at Blockbuster this past weekend.

  4. Oh, that Downey, Jr. Sherlock Holmes poster is wonderful. It reminds me very much of that moody teaser that Sony did for Casino Royale.

  5. That image on The Hurt Locker poster is great and apt but then again there are so many images from that film that could be used to promote it.

Suprised to see that they’re sticking the cameo names on there too. The more the merrier and if it gets a few more bums on seats? then why not.

  6. eoguy-

i remember hearing about that story and couldn’t believe it. how incredibly tragic. haven’t seen it, but i imagine it’ll be a tough one to shake.

  7. Man, I like how they’re touting Monsters Vs. Aliens’ higher 3-d box office vs regular box office, even though it’s only doing slightly better than Harry Potter and Madagascar 2.

Oh, and poster makes me think Sherlock Van Helsing. It’s a shame that Dance Flick poster blows, though, because the trailer actually looks amusing. And it’s nice to know Tarantino’s had to resort to ripping off Rambo one-sheets, since Sly wasn’t interested in being in his movie. Oh, wait, the knife is in a different position, so it’s automatically “original”!

  8. Hey, everybody, Arthur Penn’s ‘Mickey One’ is on TCM late Monday / early Tuesday at 4:30AM. I can’t be the only one who has heard enough about this movie to be very curious.

  9. I guess I am just not cynical enough to post here regularly but I kind of like the Sherlock Holmes poster. And I am actually going to see the movie before I cast judgement on it. What a novel idea!

  10. The poster for (500) Days of Summer is creepy, because I have almost the exact same collage of Zooey pictures on my wall. Only mine’s much, much bigger.
