No Despair
Not every day can be well organized and super-productive. I was going to bang out my Bruno review (the green light is up) but it wouldn’t happen. When the plane doesn’t lift off the ground and it’s suddenly 4:30 pm when it was only noon an hour earlier, you just have to suck it in and try to do better the next day. And now I have to catch a 6 pm screening of Nia Vardalos‘ I Hate Valentine’s Day. And my early-bird DVD seller still doesn’t have Lonely Are The Brave, which streets on 7.7.
Merciful God in heaven: Vardalos has another movie this year? I suspect you’ll be very lonely at that screening.
Varese Sarabande CD club is finally releasing a limited edition of the great Jerry Goldsmith’s score to LONELY ARE THE BRAVE. Knowing that you’re a fan of the film and film music, Jeff, you probably want to get on this. It’s limited to 3000 copies.

I watched Lonely are the Brave from a pre-release copy last weekend and was struck by how much I remember from its TV “Saturday Night at the Movies” telecasts from childhood–the ornery horse, rifle shots at a helicopter, the tooth Kirk’s character loses in a brawl. It looks lovely, all that day for night black and white.
