  1. I’ll second the “holy shit” on that one — Kathryn’s 57 (going on 58) now? Totally never caught that for some reason, but damn, she be fine-lookin’. Fuckin’ hell.

Never thought I’d be considering entering “GILF” territory, like, ever, but there’s always a first time for everything…

  2. Okay, here’s an adjective I don’t get to use too often, but was the first reaction to Jeff’s shot of Bigelow: “striking”. So much more talented and attractive than many starlets half her age.

  3. I thought I mentioned her age in my comment (#2) but looks like someone deleted that fir some reason and kept the “I second that” bit. Odd.

  4. Oh, and all respect due to Jefferson Horatio Wells for so tirelessly stumping for Hurt Locker these past 30 years or so. Saw it today; it is indeed one of the finest American films we are likely to get this year. If, in light of the inflation to ten Best Picture nominees, it still gets the bum’s rush, we will know once and for all that the Oscars are incomprehensible and worthless.

  5. Wells,

I agreed with the first poster who said that she was looking good. Why else would you put that nice picture of her? You like her as well. And I mentioned that she was looking pretty good for her age, which was 57. It was a compliment to her good genes. What’s so “maxim horndog” about that? Others have written “worse” here and in other posts today and in the past.

You’re extra sensitive today like another reader mentioned earlier today.

  6. I caught the 4:20 PM show of Hurt Locker at The Arclight today. The film is a solid piece of work, no doubt, but I wasn’t blown away by it (no pun intended). I completely understand why this had so much trouble getting a release date – probably in no small part because it is so directly comparable in style, approach, attitude and, yes, quality to HBO’s highly acclaimed Generation Kill (from David Simon, creator of The Wire), which aired a few months ago. I suspect anyone who has watched that series will more than likely be somewhat underwhelmed by Hurt Locker, especially in the wake of all the critical hype by Jeff and others.

By the way, there were a surprising number of empty seats in the theatre, especially since Jeremy Renner and Brian Geraghty were scheduled for a Q&A afterward (Renner didn’t show up), and the audience response was muted at best.
