I jotted down two Tuesday headlines from the Huffington Post that seemed to say a lot about the ways of D.C. politics and health reform 09. “Blue Dog Democrats Reach Out To GOP ‘About Joining Forces To slow’ Health Care” and “Key GOP Senators Soak Up Thousands At Health-Specific Fundraiser.”It seems so long ago when LBJ had Harry Truman as his special guest at the bill signing for the birth of medicare. This may be the year of lobbyist victory parties and celebrations.
The Ed Show is the only show on MSNBC with any balls when it comes to talking about health care. Except for Fox, everything out of Fox is focused, biting, mean, and goes for the jugular.. if only liberals had a set of balls, maybe we could actually get some things accomplished. I should of stuck with Nader, the democtatic party and Obama are worthless.
Now is not the time to be cynical folks. DROP IT! Hold your elected officials feet to the fire, let them know your self interests are not being heeded to.
Probably not necessary, Alboone. I mean, how do you think all of those Democrats got elected? It wasn’t because they tried to be Maxine Waters. They’re doing exactly the thing that got them elected in their districts…being centrist. It’s not quantum physics.
This isn’t his web site, and it’s very rude of him to come into threads, day after day, and attempt to hijack them with whatever unrelated links he finds interesting. He needs to get his own blog and stop trying to make HE his own.
The Huffington Post on Wednesday had a very interesting story by Sam Stein on Obama’s Chicago doctor who is pro-single payer. Dr. David Scheiner praises Obama as a very bright man if a bit too pragmatic. The Stein story is tagged “Obama’s Doctor: President’s Vision For Health Care Bound To Fail.”
Crabtree, the whole “I’m persecuted for my views because I’m a conservative” act is getting old. And quite pathetic. That being said, let’s hope the Democrats lose their majorities in congress. They might learn a lesson though I doubt it. What a pathetic excuse for a political party.
Oh come on. It’s not THAT pathetic. Anyway, don’t mean to sound like I’m whining, but hey… It’s just that most of my internets excursions involve dealing with headache-inducing political rhetoric, even the damn sports ones.
Living in L.A. though, I just got tired of the political thing carrying over to every other aspect of life. And I’ll say it, liberals are much worse because, I believe, the self-righteousness they feel for their cause.
So I don’t care if someone gets into it with me on, for instance, one of the daily Sarah Palin hatefests. I’ve just found that since it’s been made known that I voted for McCain last November there are people on here, (sure, mostly all-around douchebags like SpinDozer, so who cares?) who allow it to carry over into every discussion that takes place.
It gets tiresome.
So if I say that I thought “Public Enemies” was flat and lifeless it would be nice if the reaction was more based on the opinion of the film and not along the lines of “shut up, Sarah Palin-loving, Hannity-llistening fascist!”
And my initial post here wasn’t so much partisan as much as saying that Ed Shultz is every bit the loudmouth bonehead Sean Hannity is, just on the other side.
Fucking carpenter ants. Those little ant hotels don’t work. Fucking L.A. ant season. Any suggestions?
Note to Travis Crabtree. Manitoba lives just above Minnesota and North Dakota and may be voting this fall if Canada has a federal election. We now have a Republican-like Conservative minority federal government in Ottawa that could fall at any minute. Manitoba itself has a New Democratic Party provincial government just left of the Liberals, our version of your Democrats. But the NDP wins by being cautious and stealing votes from the Liberals. I also follow U.S. politics and am a member of the FDR fan club.
I love when the three contestants on “Jeopardy” draw complete blanks on questions having to do with Canada. Alex assumes a look that mixes sadness, anger and perplexity.
“Anyone?….(sigh)… ‘Where is Prince Edward Island’”.
Yes, that blank look on their faces quite resembles their reaction to being asked to name three great Republican Presidents in the 20th century on Final Jeopardy!
Here’s a tip: if you really hate how the subject of politics suddenly (and mysteriously!) “springs up” when you’re trying to discuss other matters, why don’t you try, gee I don’t know, not bringing up politics yourself?
Good point, CitizenEtcetera…. I should’ve used this thread entitled “Effin’ Blue Dogs” to discuss the cuts made in the theatrical print of “Inglorious Basterds”.
Later, I’ll head over to the thread named “Palin Must Die Painfully” and discuss the awesome audio commentary on the DVD release of “Catch-22″.

I know you’re a (self-described) liberal/progressive Jeffrey but “The Ed Show”? Really? “The Ed Show”?

Anyone else SUPER HORNY?
God DAMN, all I want to do in life is have sex with a FAMOUS ACTRESS.
I WANT TO KILL MYSELF.
SERIOUSLY.
I AM SO FUCKING HORNY AND LONESOME.
Now is not the time to be cynical folks. DROP IT! Hold your elected officials feet to the fire, let them know your self interests are not being heeded to.
We know, Lex.
No, really…WE KNOW.
Probably not necessary, Alboone. I mean, how do you think all of those Democrats got elected? It wasn’t because they tried to be Maxine Waters. They’re doing exactly the thing that got them elected in their districts…being centrist. It’s not quantum physics.
“Centrist,” ie, right-wing. Not only is there no left in America, there is no mildly anti-corporate center.
bill.is right. The dems have been and continue to be republican toadies.
“We know, Lex.
No, really…WE KNOW.”
I think Lex has misinterpreted the public option.
Question to y’all…. (sort of a demographic ratings questionaire)
How many of you actually follow fake DeeZee’s links?
Are they worth the effort?
Do you try one then bail?
Do you ignore all together.
This isn’t a slam on him. I’m really just curious.
I don’t click on Deezee’s links.
This isn’t his web site, and it’s very rude of him to come into threads, day after day, and attempt to hijack them with whatever unrelated links he finds interesting. He needs to get his own blog and stop trying to make HE his own.
I regard D.Z.’s “contributions” more or less the same way I regard yours Travis.

I’m a big time liberal / progressive who ALWAYS votes for Democrats!
There, frank. Now do you enjoy my opinions on film? Does that get me off the black list?
Way to be inclusive, asshole.
Somebody find out who Manitoba voted for last November. He sounds like he might be one of THEM.

Is “Humpday” as good as its reviews?
Suck it, Dodgers!
Go Cards!

Well, seeing you discuss movies would certainly be a nice change of pace, regardless of what thread it’s under…
