New Basterds
Quentin Tarantino‘s somewhat altered cut of Inglorious Basterds is, I’m told, screening today in Los Angeles. I would have liked to attend but InFilm calls. It would have been fun trying to pinpoint which portions of the Cannes cut have been deep-sixed, etc. Not that the changes make a huge bottom-line difference. Joe Popcorn is going to find it too talky by half.
DeeZee says…
I’m Jack Warden and I’m an actress.
I liked it, but yes, my brother thought it was way too talky.

Talky? But the trailer hinted that we would be watching 2 hours of Americans terrorizing Nazis. In scenes too graphic to show in the trailer.
This is not going to go well, is it? Though I couldn’t care less how “talky” it is, as long as it is also “entertaining”.
I have a bad feeling that it’s going to fail and fail badly, first weekend and all. Not a comment on the quality of the film, just that people won’t be bothered to see it.
I’m curious, but in no hurry to see this.
This will be the first QT movie I won’t be seeing on the big screen since he began making movies.
frank: Did My Best Friend’s Birthday get a theatrical release?
Anyway, looks like Waxman was right about Harvey leaning on QT to trim IB.
MBFB is 36 minutes long. Reservoir Dogs is officially his first film.
…and SHUT THE FUCK UP in advance.
“Anyway, looks like Waxman was right about Harvey leaning on QT to trim IB.”
Your math is showing. Waxman’s story about Harvey wanting 30 minutes cut out of the movie is, in fact, not confirmed by the fact that there is a new cut which, from most reports, is a minute or so longer.
Probably just a test-screening print.
