Gamer…great. An action film that’s a little bit different (gamers controlling prisoners in mass-scale, ultra-violent online games involving real death) but makes the relationship between Gerard Butler and Logan Lerman (in this clip at least) feel an awful lot like Bruce Willis and Justin Long in Live Free or Die Hard. So viewers will, you know, feel safe and assured.
Can’t wait. Looks uber-stylish. These Crank guys are fucking insane. The Godzilla-style fight in Crank 2 was one of the coolest, most delirious things of all time.

Pinko, if you’re referring to Gamer, I think it looks like stylish fun. I love the Crank boys. They make the best trash this side of Bay.
If you’re referring to Speed Racer, I have some bad news…I still haven’t seen it. But I also have some good news: my wife got me a Blu Ray player for my birthday yesterday. I’ll be getting Speed Racer on Blu ASAP and giving it a watch. I’ll likely review it at my blog. I’ll give you the heads up when I do. It’s cool to know that you’re interested in my opinoin.
I think it was a blessing in disguise with not seeing the film up to this point because now I can see it on Blu Ray. And if it’s as gorgeous looking as I think it will be, I might end up shooting a White Ray (that one’s for you, LexG, if you’re reading these boards).
But in all seriousness, Pinko — I am looking forward to the flick. I have enjoyed most of the Wachowski’s offerings to date (still think Bound is their best film), and I do think the film looks visually stunning from the trailers. It’s the overall tone of the movie that I’ve been wary about. Still, looking forward.

Actually, it’s a “remake” of Mamoru Oshii’s Avalon, better seen on region-free imports than the Miramaxe dub-titled version.
Neveldine & Taylor are insanely talented. Nobody saw their other movie, “Pathology,” but it was really good solid mean n’ nasty psycho-horror and on a totally different frequency than Crank.
I’m psyched for this the same way I am for Surrogates – I like the idea of mid-budget actioners where big-idea-scifi-commentary is the backdrop to a shoot `em up.
Neveldine and Taylor didn’t direct Pathology, they were only the producers. I thought Pathology was pretty bad but the ending was pretty fucking awesome.
As for Crank 2, I kept on wondering if that was really Lauren Holly barfing into the camera during that psychiatrist scene. If that’s her, the boob job and lip job didn’t do wonders.
