I believe none of what I hear and only half of what I see, but a Sydney reader named Warren wrote a few minutes ago saying "you may be interested to know that Steven Soderbergh is directing a play for Cate Blanchett's Sydney Theatre Company here in December this year. Maybe that's where he sees his future." "Mystery project" alluded to and half-assedly confirmed by the website.

The website itself confirms it, but info is limited:

Blanchett herself will be performing in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at the Brooklyn Academy of Music through Dec. 20. I guess she can video-conference notes on the project.

I'm a STC subscriber and got my tickets to the Soderbergh "untitled" thing at the beginning of the year. I'm taking my parents before Christmas, so hopefully it won't be too avant-garde. At the ass-end of year, and in the sweltering summer heat, I don't want to see anything too in the vein of, say, modern German fringe theatre.
All I know is that there is open seating. I plan to sit halfway back in the middle of a row in case people are pulled out for "audience participation". I also plan to have a glass or three of bubbly before the show.
