“None of this debt would have piled up if I had had the option of buying into a public health insurance plan.”
Did he never have the chance to buy into a private plan? As a father and the presumed breadwinner of his family, where’s his sense of personal responsibility?

That’s the rub right there and the disconnect with conservatives like yourself. In the course of being the “breadwinner” and taking “personal responsibility” this guy might’ve injured his back or knee on the job site. Guess what? That’s a pre-existing conditon which any new insurance company can bar him from joining or his current one can kick him off for. But then again, he should just pull himself up by his bootstraps and let a private industry ram him up the ass in the name of capitalism. That’s what Jesus would do. Am I right, Josh?
Josh: He’d be more responsible if he had a choice.
Anyway, a whore like Max Fuck-Us is the only person I’d rank even lower than Polanski. If that windbag has his way, any future Geiners won’t even be able to get coverage for the morning-after pill.
Anyway, Dan Rather’s suit gets dismissed.
Anyone wanna see Amelia @ DOHA?
Is Alba a Li’l Focker?
Clooney vs. Clooney.
Another pointless lawsuit from Harvey Weinstein. Can’t wait to see how that legal dispute over CTHD will turn out, too.
Magnolia gets Broderick’s new flick.
Didn’t know John Lennon smokin’ pot was worth that much money, considering all the band-members did it back then.
Another pointless remake, and from that 500 Days of Summer hack.
Don’t Michael Angarano and Uma Thurman make a lovely couple?
What they really think about us.
New ‘Fox trailer.
New Wild Things featurette.
Worst of the decade?
If I’m following Josh and Redmond correctly, the underlying question is this:
“Is health care in America a privilege, a right, or a responsibility?”
When Tom Brokaw asked this in the 2008 debate, Obama said it was a right, and McCain said it was a responsibility. I think the country should start moving in Obama’s direction. We should at least be willing to look at what other countries, like the Netherlands, get right.
Okay, Josh, let’s assume the guy could’ve had an affordable plan but was too cheap so he decided to risk it for him and his family and got burned. You can choose to say the guy needs to suffer the consequences of his greed or laziness or stupidity and live the rest of his life in debt for his mistake (a mistake a responsible man like yourself would never make). OR you can say we need health insurance to be mandated and affordable so that this bullshit doesn’t happen anymore.
Jeff’ll dig this. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.org/video-captures-jackman-chiding-cell-phone-offender-ap
I have an idea! Why don’t we fund health care by pulling the plug on the wasteful, unnecessary war in Iraq that the oh-so-budget-conscious teabaggers have been completely silent about?

Roger gets a year of jail time. Maybe he should get a sex change to look like Lindsay or Paris.
Yeah, let’s go after the guy who’s trying to come up with a bill that can actually pass. How dare he try to be effective in a democracy! What a turncoat, that he’s not following the orders of the 15% at one extreme!
Unfortunately this thread is pretty typical of the “debate”– no recognition that there might be ways to reform the system without creating incentives for everyone to avoid paying until they need a big bailout. We live in the age of no responsibility and big bailouts, apparently, and Obama is our king.
Face it. The public option is, unfortunately, dead. Did anyone really think this was going to pass in a political environment totally corrupted by lobbyist money? I mean, talk about voting against the public interest. Today Sen. Ensign of Nevada said he voted against both Senate public option plans because they might become so popular they would never be uprooted. In other word: Fuck the public.
Everything that guy said in that ad is 100% true!
This country has lost its way bigtime.
One more thing this guy should have said at the end- WELCOME TO THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE!
Who cares about health care, that regular joe, mountain stud is HOT!!! WOW!!! Very yummy!!!!
Ronald: “Yeah, let’s go after the guy who’s trying to come up with a bill that can actually pass. ”
Except it won’t pass, because the Repug pols hate “reform”, unless it means charging us more for the same services they get for free. And the majority of Senate Dems don’t like it, either, because they know it’s selling out to Big Insurance.
“What a turncoat, that he’s not following the orders of the 15% at one extreme!”
More like 51+% of the country.
“no recognition that there might be ways to reform the system without creating incentives for everyone to avoid paying until they need a big bailout. ”
If they didn’t have to pay, then they wouldn’t need to be bailed out. And we’re already swamped with over-crowded emergency rooms from people who can’t afford coverage otherwise, and wait until the last minute to get checked. We’re literally paying more for our services, and still behind the rest of the industrial world in terms of life expectancies.
“We live in the age of no responsibility and big bailouts, apparently, and Obama is our king.”
Speaking of no responsibility and big bailouts, did you ever call out Halliburton and Blackwater for ripping off the taxpayer for the illegal war in Iraq?
ibeale: “The public option is, unfortunately, dead. ”
Not with the 50+ Senators it needs to pass. http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/all-hail-tom-harken-he-says-he-has-vote
Arent these guys all pussies for not pushing for a single payer system in the first place. and may be then settling for the public option. Obama’ s mistake was trying to compromise. THey don’t want compromise they want to watch the world burn.
