"Sources and friends close to the Bourne 4 project tell us that Paul Greengrass has quit Bourne 4 and walked away from the project," a Playlist story reported earlier today. No need for a third Greengrass film. Ultimatum was already getting repetitive. Since it made, however, the most money, I'm guessing they bring on someone similarly established, ala Cuaron or Twker, to keep the ship going, instead of trying someone more unproven and potentially more inventing.

If you turn on a Bourne movie halfway through, how quickly can you determine which one it is? Thirty minutes? An hour?

I love the Bourne movies but the repetitive score gives me a migraine... it's been lodged in my head for years now and I wish it would go away. The HITMAN movie did a 99% soundalike facsimile of that score, and that's stuck in my head too.

It's this jagged escalating tension thing that plays under the whole movie and makes me kind of nauseous.

Thank God. I love the Bourne movies, love Greengrass' stuff, but him doing another Bourne movie seemed to me to be the equivalent of treading water. I'd been hoping this would happen since the last shot of Ultimatum.

And Massey - pretty instantly. For me, anyway. The first one's completely different, stylistically, and the second and third have different color palettes (Supremacy with more of a green/yellow thing, whereas Ultimatum is distinctly blue). And I've only seen the movies twice apiece, for those who think I'm a rabid fanboy.

I agree with Scott. I love Greengrass and the Bourne movies but we really don't need another one. I loved the way Ultimatum ended. Don't ruin a perfectly fine trilogy of action movies.

Haven't read the books, but a friend told me that Jason Bourne was supposed to be married (to Marie) and a professor when he gets called back into action by forces unknown. As Marie was killed in #2, I might think having him hookup with Nicki in a fourth installment set when he has an established "normal" life might be interesting. That's really the only story I would be interested in seeing. That and some more Joan Allen.

I think the movies pretty much ignored the books completely, apart from the titles.

I don't see where they'd go from here. The driving force behind the first three was Bourne trying to discover the secrets of his past. Now he's found out about everything, what's the point of a fourth? It'll be like the George Clooney Batman who was completely at peace with his traumatic past after exorcising his demons while he was Val Kilmer. It led to a boring character (although it didn't help that it was in one of the worst films ever made).

As someone who has been reading Robert Ludlums' books since the age of 11, I think this is a smart move because the 4th would be beating a dead horse. Their is only so much you can do with the stories between books 1-2. Book 3 goes so off course to what the 3rd film was that the 4th film would have to take a huge turn also.
Bourne had 2 kids, maybe mid 40's and was married at the start of the 3rd book to say the least.
