Right away this photo of the late Brittany Murphy and screenwriter husband Simon Monjack (Factory Girl), taken a few weeks ago, tells you something's wrong. He looks relatively young (in his mid 30s?) but is obviously a food monster. (He looks like Oliver Platt on a binge.) Why, you ask, would Murphy have gotten a lip job at the tender age of 32? Why would they pose for PDA photos at LAX? You can feel the ick.

Here's the AP obit in the NY Times, including a quote from Ashton Kutcher's tweet on her passing: "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon.''

And on a lighter note, Rage Against The Machine beat the UK's X-Factor (Idol) winner's single in sales with the 1992 classic "Killing In The Name" to be this year's Christmas number 1 in Britain. Group mosh!

Shit, man. I've read four different reports on her tragic death and not one of these so-called "news" organizations pointed out that she was married to a fatty.
Here I thought for a moment that it was just a simple, fluke tragedy. Things always change when the truth comes out.

It may have been just a vicious circle, she wasn't getting the roles she wanted so she was self medicating, and then she was losing roles because of self medicating.

Hollyweirdd spat out its next victim. And it has been happening in front of our eyes, with Brittany giving strange interviews, behaving more and more erratically, looking thinner and sicker.
When a likeable young woman dies of heart attack, it's a tragedy. When a likeable young woman who looks drugged and anorexic most of the time dies of heart attack it's a teeth-gnashing tragedy, because.we all know it could have been avoided. RIP Brittany Murphy, whose role in "Clueless" will always make me smile.

Whoever made the statement that this is turning into a tabloid -- so what? It's about actors and actresses and movies; sobeit if their lives are tabloidish.
The tabloids have hinted at drug use for a few months, and hubby doesn't look like he's disciplined in the drug and/or foot department. She was reportedly anorexia, so her death could be attributed to almost anything -- but "natural" causes. You don't die of heart attacks at age 32.
She was in Sin City; right? I remember her character and loved her small part.

Actually you can die of a heart attack at age 32. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is when the heart muscle becomes unusually thick and can't pump blood. It usually affects young people and has absolutely no symptoms until they suddenly drop dead. Natasha McElhone's husband, a fit and healthy 42 year old, died this way.

Geez Jeff. Who cares (but you) about her husband's weight?
So, Ric Ocasek married Paulina Poritzkova and 20 years+ later they seem to be doing ok despite Ric being ugly and looking like a strung out anorexic.
Brittany Murphy used to be fat 15 years back. So what?
Let her rest in peace and as long as there's nothing sinister with her husband, leave the 'big guy' alone.
Its the people that marry the other for what's inside is where marriage's seem to last.
All this superficial stuff is pretty lame commentary.

Simon Monjack nothing to do with 'Factory Girl' or the screenplay. He filed a frivolous lawsuit against us weeks before principal photography making bogus claims that we had stolen his script. He held us literally hostage and we were forced to settle with him as he held our production over a barrel. I posted this information on IMDB two years ago in order to warn people because Monjack was using his Factory Girl "credit" to solicit and then steal money from other investors. Then one night at three in the morning Brittany Murphy (who was a good friend and a girl I had come close to casting as Edie Sedgwick) called me in tears, begging me to take this posting down. It was going to ruin her husband. I told Brittany it was the truth and warned her, as many other did, about Monjack who had a criminal record and a long, long list of legal complaints against him. In the end I told Brittany I would do it for her and remove the post because I really cared for her as a friend. The last thing I told Brittany is "Do you know who this guy is? I mean do you really know him. Do you know what you're doing by marrying him?" At this point Brittany became angry and told me she knew Monjack better than anyone and then hung up on me. A few months later I tried to call her to see if she was alright and Monjack would not let me speak to her. I so so feared something bad would happen. I thought he might take her for all her money. Little did I know she would end up dead. Now I am not saying Monjack has anything to do with this. I wouldn't know. And I'm sure the guy is in deep mourning. But one can sure speculate that his clear lack of character and background couldn't have led to the most healthy environment. I really feel bad for Brittany. She was a sweet sweet angel and didn't deserve anything bad to happen to her ever. May she rest in peace. I will miss her. We will all miss her. She was the most talented and underrated actresses working in film.

@ DarienStyles: See, the thing is that Wells is disgusted by fat people (unless they are "Philly" Hoffman). He can't stand the sight of these obese elephants stomping anywhere close to him or sitting next to him in an airplane.
Like many folks, Wells believes being a "lardass" is a choice, never mind that a lot of folks aren't blessed with good genes or a good metabolism. that doesn't matter to folks like Wells. So, basically, if you look superthin, you're AOK, but, god forbid, you have a few extra pounds (or more), then you get the Monique treatment.

People who have a certain girth, an affable roundness, a modest corpulence and a general largeness of frame, etc. are not guilty of a crime. Some people just roll in that direction, and I respect that. But we all know that many if not most of the serious girthies out there haven't arrived at this stage through genes or slower metabolisms but through indulgence -- through gross overeating of unhealthy, fatty, greasy, corporate-produced foods. Obesity has been growing for years in this country, and it's not an accident. It has now reached epidemic proportions so don't try and play victim on this issue. Most people with serious problems in this realm -- I'm speaking of people who are bigger than they ought to be -- have brought it upon themselves. You really have to grim up and grow up and get tough with yourself in order to stay healthy and not look appalling. I'm not saying all weight problems speak to character, but a lot of them do, I feel. Food is a drug, an escape. I took one look at Murphy's husband and said to myself, "This guy has character issues."

Sorry, BizzarroJeffWells, but the real Jeff Wells is on target on this one. The majority of overweight or obese people in this country today are that way through lifestyle choices. When I was 18, I was six foot two and weighed at most 160 pounds. It was the low end of the proper BMI index, but I was relatively healthy. Five years ago, in my late 30s, I was up to 250 pounds. Today, I'm around 220 and have to take Lopid twice a day to keep my lipid count in check. For most of my life, I have eaten out at least once every day, rarely eaten fruits and vegetables, and have gotten very little exercise since I graduated from high school. Now, I am not a fattie in the traditional sense, as my height and build hides the extra weight pretty well, but I really do need to lose another 25 pounds. And I could do it, if I put my mind to it.
One of the saddest things about modern society is the refusal of most people to be accountable for their actions and choices. To find excuses for the way they are and use those excuses as crutches. Be proactive in your own life. Own up to your own bullshit. Stop making excuses and either do something about it or shut the fuck up.

No, dickwad -- my first thought was how sad and tragic it was that she'd passed. My second thought was why. My third thought was that it was probably drugs. My fourth thought was what a tough thing it can obviously be for certain fast-lane actresses who haven't the moxie/chutzpah to deal with the industry and the lifestyle. My fifth or sixth or seventh thought was who the hell is that bullky guy she was married to -- a guy whom some (including George Hickenlooper) have said is a slippery weasel type. My eighth or ninth thought after seeing the above photo of BM and Simon Monjack was, why is a guy in his 30s this fat? His appearance told me right away it was probably (though not positively) rooted in indulgence, and that this indulgence had to do with who he is -- his character. Anyway, it'll be lovely not having you around. Have a nice life.

This is still roiling my guts, the clip I saw on TMZ a few weeks ago, the young actress and her husband at LAX, and she's managed to put herself together, but he's wearing a white T and skinny jeans, and I had this visceral reaction to this slob, I mean, I've had my issues in the past, but I could yank on a suitcoat on the way to the airport.
Anger is a common male reaction to the sight of a pretty girl with a seemingly unworthy mate, but this is L.A., I'm used to it, and I barely remembered who Brittany Murphy was, and yet my gut screamed "What are you doing with this guy?! Get off before the train wrecks!" And it's got nothing to do with "fat." That'd be like calling Sydney Greenstreet in Casablanca or Jabba the Hut or the Rabbi in The Yiddish Policeman's Union "overweight." It was a sense of aggressively boorish corruption. And this girl was entangled in it and she should get out if she knew what was good for her.
All this from a few seconds of footage on TMZ? Honest though it might be, it was of course a wholly superficial, facile reaction on my part.
Except now the young lady is dead.

Looking for easy ways to lose weight and in 2 weeks? Below are 11 surefire ways you can do now to lose your weight now
Easy Ways to Lose Weight in 2 Weeks
1. Beware scale obsession - weight should come off slowly - a half pound to one pound a week - as a result of cutting junk calories while fueling your body properly for the next workout and recovery. Think of your body as a high performance engine - raise the octane of the fuel you use and stop filling when the tank is full.
2. To lose weight in 2 weeks, you have to cut down on the junk foods (not completely), stop eating out and drink less sugary drinks, including the diet kinds.
3. Eat more fresh wholesome foods and whole grain products. It's simply the best and loaded with the essential fiber to keep you satisfied longer. The simple rule is, try to get in 2 serves of fruits and 5 serves of veggies a day.
4. Make it a point each day to include a good habit like drinking one less can of coke or eating one more serve of fruit.
5. Eat 6 healthy mini meals a day to keep your stomach satisfied. The key here is eat in controlled portions and never go for that second serve or a super size meal. Stick to the 1 plate rule to keep your calorie intake at bay.
6. Even 'bad foods' can be good, in 'moderation'. The keys are portion size and cooking method. Juicy, tender cuts of steak are fatty, but are fine to eat if you trim the lard before cooking, or grill it so excess fat can drip away. As for easy guideline on portions, always eat less steak than you would chicken.
7. No matter what you've eaten, take note of how your body feels after a meal, rather than how you think you should feel. If you're still hungry later in the day, treat yourself to a piece of sweet in season fruit rather than a sugar filled snack or dessert. Then go ahead and pat yourself on the back.
8. Food is not the enemy. Food powers your brain and your muscles; without it, you'll lose your energy soon. If you missed a midday meal, eat a piece of fresh fruit or a handful of whole wheat crackers before you head for the gym.
9. How many of us slip chips and chocolate into our trolley for emergencies? It's vital to stop buying junk if you want to stop eating junk! Be strong and avoid purchasing extra snacks. You'll notice that both your grocery bill and snacking habits will start decreasing. If the foods aren't there, you can't eat them!
10. Your favorite exercise - only better - daily walker? Seasoned swimmer? You get kudos for your commitment, but you maybe short changing yourself. As you become more accustomed to your favorite activity, you burn fewer calories. This doesn't mean you have to ditch your go to exercise - just mix it up. As your fitness improves, increase the intensity levels to challenge your body (but train with in your limits). Look at jogging 100 yards followed by another hundred yards of walking, rinse and repeat. It's a great way to jolt the body's metabolism.
Alternatively, look at a combination of interval training and strength training like Turbulence Training to get the maximum output from your body - And when combined with good nutrition, it is one of the easy ways to lose weight with.
Ladies, strength training is good for you too - you will not bulk up and with muscles, you will burn more calories.
