The Zelig virus is alive and well among the Indiana Film Journalists Association as far as its choices for Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor. The winners are/were (and I really do think we're getting damn tired of this) Mo'Nique in Precious and Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds. respectively. They dared to be obsequious!
I'll give this Hoosiers this much -- they chose Up in the Air for Best Picture but they also chose Fantastic Mr. Fox for runner-up. Wes Anderson's film also won for Best Animated Film, beating out Up. The IFJA also chose Sin Nombre as Best Foreign Language Film -- good. And The Cove for Best Documentary. Here's the rest.

Wait, so is this just an Mo'Nique thing? IMO Waltz gave by far the best performance of any actor this year and deserves all of his kudos and more.
You repeatedly mention Waltz in your Mo'Nique-centric posts, but don't dive too much into it.

If anyone has any doubt that Jeff Wells is racist, do a search for one of his blogs a few months before Denzel Washington won Best Actor for Training Day.
I'd do it but I'm on my way out the door. (I have a date with a Hispanic Party Elephant).
I remember reading words like "unwillingness to play the game" and "aloof". Can someone please find it and post it here? It's odd that whenever there's talk of an African American winning an Oscar, he's always the one with the take down campaign.

No, I think you're the one getting tired of this while most of the rest of us are laughing our pants off.

Can anyone (Jeff perhaps) put up a link to the post that started the whole "Zelig" think and explains the thought behind it, because based on cultural awareness alone it makes no bloody sense. In the movie of the same name, Woody Allen plays someone who changes his personality and appearance every time he comes into contact with others.
Hence, a "Zelig" would be someone who changes their mind frequently. If anything, the votes are anti-Zelig, as no one seems willing to buck the trend in the Best supporting male, female and in the director slot.
Interesting that when it comes to his own sacred cow, Jeff is a total hypocrite by not disparaging the fact that Bigelow is also getting the same award from the "Zeligs." In fact, this same group in Indiana is one of only two groups so far to give the Best Director nod to someone else (Spike Jonez in this case)
Hmmmm.....

No I'm tired of Waltz's textbook villain 101 performance sweeping all of these awards as well.

Those goddam motherfuckers!!!
Anybody who doesn't pick "The Hurt Locker" as Best Picture is not only a fucking moronic, retarded asshole, they're worthy of having the shit beat out of them. THEY ARE DEAD TO ME!!!!!!
And I swear to Christ, if ONE MORE motherfucking critic picks fucking Mo'Nique as Best Actress, I'm gonna load up with some anti-personnel grenades and AK47's and burn this fucking planet to the ground!!!

I hate that attitude. So what if the consensus is going towards the same thing? Is this anything new? Bet you didn't care when it was Daniel Day-Lewis sweeping for There Will Be Blood. You agree that they are exceptional performances so what are you moaning about? Frankly, the critics can vote on whoever they want, and they shouldn't be required to mix it up just for the hell of it.
