As for the clip montage, nicely done. But if it were on this year’s Academy Awards, the music used would probably be the Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow” mashed up with Beyonce’s “Halo.”

“I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas is the awards show soundtrack of choice now for all television networks. It’s kind of genius how generic it is – it fits with weddings, sporting events, Oscars, “must-see TV” nights – they’ll probably use it for political coverage soon.

Using “Exit Music” is a little left-field, but oddly fitting. I’ve watched this about a dozen times since it first hit, as I’m a fan of montages and this guy’s previous ones in particular. It’s hard to get more stirring than the music stirring and then seeing Dr. Manhattan explode.

The number’s slightly better staged than it would have been, by, say, John Landis.
Still, (500) DAYS OF SUMMER is the hula-hoop film of 2009.
