• The Perils of Thinking

Stopping it in some places, falling back from it in others… same as it ever was. As they like to say: “You may have the watches, but we have the time.”

As someone who voted for Obama, it’s disappointing to realize that he’s in over his head, and looks completely ill-at-ease at the podium.

  • thatmovieguy

I’m guessing the man is absolutely exhausted. He can’t win. If you do nothing, you’re supporting a dictator and turning a blind eye to a bloodbath. If you take the time to put together a coalition to impose a no-fly zone, you’re dithering and wishy-washy. And pardon my screams of laugh as I listen to “concerned” Republicans insisting he set down strict guidelines for how long we’re going to be there, how much it will cost, what the end result will be, etc. Yeah, 10 years ago when it was Bush and Cheney, money was no object and Haliburton/Blackwater could have anything and everything it wanted because “democracy was on the march.” The hypocrisy would be incredible, if we weren’t talking about our government.

Obama may be ‘underachieving’ but just wait to see how things are under the next Republican president. People never appreciate what they have until it’s gone.

  • Ray DeRousse

This is Obama’s second-worst moment as President, only following his hideous promotions of the people on Wall Street who crashed the economy of the world.

    Change my ass.

Just watched Inside Job, which makes Barry look like a complete fool. I’ll vote for him again because I’ll never vote for any Republican for any office, but Jesus, man, please do something right before Nov. 2012.

  • Mgmax, le Corbeau

Anyone who says categorically they would never vote for one party has just announced to the other party that they’ll take ANY shit they dish out.

This explains a lot about the last half century of politics.

“People never appreciate what they have until it’s gone.”

Cinderella wrote a great song about this.

@Movieguy: I agree totally. He’s damned if he does, damned if he don’t. people have to remember it’s been 3yrs and we haven’t had a terrorism attack like 9/11 yet. It was promised, but this President has kept us safe so far. However, we have enemies & dangers within – including nuclear stations that could pop any second. But I feel confident that the FBI and security are on top of the bad guys. Now what we should really be concerned about is that doggone Mexican border. There are Mexican cartel folk here in Chicago creating havoc. I wish we had troops on the border keeping those bad guys out.

I do wish the Administration had a better PR team and would let people know the good being done to counter the do-nothing wacko Republicans.

I’m with you thatmovieguy and chicago48. Obama is doing an EXCELLENT job handling the crisis in Libya. I’m tired of the US always taking the lead in these military operations–especially when our safety isn’t even in danger. And why should we always be the one to pick up the tab? Where’s Germany in all this? Why aren’t they helping out with the no-fly zone? Of all the countries in Europe, don’t they have the most money to burn? The US is already sending a ton of money to Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel and god knows what other charity case countries. I give Obama credit for drawing the line and not wanting to commit to another 10 years of rebuilding Libya. Too bad Geoge W. Bush didn’t do that. Sometimes inexperience isn’t so bad.

“Anyone who says categorically they would never vote for one party has just announced to the other party that they’ll take ANY shit they dish out.”

But both sides dish out quite a bit of shit. You have to decide which side’s shit tastes better. For me, I’d rather be fucked over by Democrats then Republicans. But it’s gonna happen either way.

Well this is a clear excuse to attack Gheddafi and take oil from them.

He would have yet finished the war to take again the governement of Lybia since some day … but now what? There is the war.

I think USA and France have the major responsability over this war!!
