“You know how to hunt”? I’ve privately interviewed Jennifer Lawrence and seen her at a couple of events and in four movies (Winter’s Bone, The Burning Plain, X-Men: First Class and Like Crazy), and honestly? She doesn’t really look like herself with dark brown hair. I suppose I’ll get used to it, but why did they brown her up in the first place? Because Katniss Everdeen, her Hunger Games character, has dark hair? Who cares?

A LOT of people. This book has obsessive fans that will nitpick everything about the movie.
The real question is, why did they cast someone 5 or so years older than the character in the book?
Is this “first look” even going to excite the fans of the novels? So drab.
I hate to be the online douche who doesn’t “get it,” especially since I’m 21 and not 50, but I don’t get the appeal here–not yet at least. There aren’t even any sexy, brooding vampires on display. It’s just a couple dull shots of a dolled-down Jennifer Lawrence running around in LexG’s “Fox Forest.”
A woman I know is upset with her because apparently she’s not thin enough. The character is apparently supposed to be starving, and size 2 Jennifer isn’t gaunt enough for her taste. She’s deeply, deeply troubled as a result.
This broad is 60 years old, so it’s not like she’s a squealing teenage fangirl or anything.

Allow me to introduce you to a little thing known as the Internet. It goes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and needs constant fuel so EVERY LITTLE THING becomes a big deal. Hunger Games super fans are ridiculous.
I like Jennifer Lawrence so I’m glad she’s got that David O. Russell movie in between these movies. Ever since her David Poland interview where she basically laughed in his face for 30 minutes, I’ve been on board.
For a teaser, this was good. However, there seems to be an unnecessary about of shaky cam, which does not bode well for this movie. Hopefully it’s of the Borne variety of shaky cam, and stylistically/artistically useful to the narrative/action.

I’m with Jeff on this one. In all my years in movie going, I have never, never, never complained or even cared whether a person was smaller/thinner/darker/older than what was written in the book. People ought to be told firmly that a book is neither their creation nor is it their possession.
But alas, that is not the world we live in. There are obsessives with nothing better to do with their lives than to claim ownership over something they have only read. Sadly because of places like Comic-Con, such folks are encouraged to believe that they have a legitimate “input” when it comes to making a movie version of “their” work.
Well this looks really cheap. I’m sick of Lawrence too.
I know nothing about any of this crap, so I was actually looking forward to seeing some sort of trailer for it so I could see what everyone keeps squealing about.
What a letdown..

Who cares? I know, right? I mean, it’s not like they projected the thing at 1.78 instead of 1.66. THAT would have been something to get righteously pissed about!
I know it’s “just a YA” but the book is some of the least imaginative SF I’ve ever suffered through, with the feel of a novice writer who just made it up as she went along.
As for the silliest-named protagonist in history, Katniss spends half her time up in a tree or hiding in a cave, shoots a few well-timed arrows and then [SPOILER] screws over “Peeta” (is he from Quahuag, RI?) the guy who’s in love with her. Not very heroic or sympathetic. And yes, she’s supposed to be 14 and emaciated.

Jeff, I can’t recall the films offhand, but you raise more hell about the hair on movie characters than anybody. You are just looking for reasons to trash this flick any way you can, the first of many such trashings to come.
