It’s the most expensive X-Men movie ever and barely outgrossed the first one, which was the one that had to explain the concept to the whole world. The franchise isn’t dead yet, but it’s mortally wounded.

It is expensive at $160M, but I think X-Men 3 cost 225M.
The movie was a critical succes foremost but it is probably enough for it to also have long legs on dvd and be a succes nonetheless.
