I Will Be War Horse-d

Anything to distract from the sitting-around-and-eating-too-much-and-watching-TV part of this annual ritual works for me. Steven Spielberg‘s film will sneak here and there at commercial venues on Sunday (including New York City), and be screened for the L.A. stragglers on Monday, 11.28. I don’t know when the review embargo date is, but War Horse won’t open until 12.25 so who knows?

  1. AMC Century City 10.30am

    How can there be an embargo if you attend a regular showing (everyone can go to) and pay for your ticket?

  2. Christ Almighty did I eat like a damn pig. Seriously it was a real oinkfest.

    Now I can’t hardly move;

    Got to try to fit in some desert though. 3 different pies to choose from, prolly just take a hunk of each.

    Just saw the commercial for War Horse during the football game. I told everybody that this is going to be the Best Picture. Also that Jeff Wells ain’t to crazy about it and has a problem with Spielberg.

    Nobody said a damn word.

    What the Hell is wrong with people?

  3. They can’t embargo public screenings, can they? Not if you pay for a ticket and see it with the masses. Ditto on Crowe’s Zoo pic. Ditto if you catch the movie in some random European movie 4 onths before it’s released in the States.

    If they do, then why bother paying? Go to the press screening.

  4. Saw it a few days ago. The invite noted a 21 December embargo date for reviews, and an announcement was made to this effect prior to the screening.

  5. Yes, an embargo is ridiculous when the Popcorn gangs’ reviews have been posted all over. But Dreamworks probably figures those reviews will be kind whereas the critics’ will sound like Jeff’s. In which case it makes sense. Holding screenings throughout the Thanksgiving holiday is another way for DW to get back at critics since the film has been ready for some time.
