Custer’s Last Stand

The same steamroller-lemming-mob mentality that has pushed The Artist all through awards season has presumably sunk in among the Directors Guild membership. It is therefore likely that Artist helmer Michel Hazanasidvicious will take the top prize at this evening’s DGA Awards. The “anything but The Artist” contingent (i.e., myself and I don’t know who else) is hoping for an extremely unlikely upset by Hugo‘s Martin Scorsese.

    ANYTHING but “The Artist”?

I would prefer it not be the movie with the dopey white southerners who eat SHIT PIE.

  2. Well how can it be that film Gabe when the director isn’t even nominated? Surely you can be happy in all of your PC whitey glory that the film is all but sunk?

  3. At least The Artist doesn’t have that asshole Sid from The Descendants. Easily the most annoying and movie killing (which says a lot for that bad film) character of the year.

  4. Why wade through two hours of bad Hallmark-inspired kid lit for one brief silent movie homage when you can see a whole movie revolving around silent movies?

  5. HUGO was for me the best film of the year (and maybe the two or three years prior), but Marty did win just five years ago. In my dream world, HUGO wins Picture and Hazanavicius wins Director, but any combinations of wins by these two will make me very happy…and as I’ve said before, the more success ARTIST achieves, the harder it will be for studio pinheads to say no to future B&W films.

  6. Honestly, even though I like everyone else’s movie better, and had substantial issues with TREE OF LIFE, Terrence Malick would be a pretty goddamn cool way to go for Best Director.

  7. the more likely scenario in my mind was Scorsese taking Best Director and The Artist winning Best Picture. but with Hazanavicius winning the DGA tonight, even splitting the two becomes that much less probable

  8. Damn, Sasha is really feeling her oats now that she has been mentioned in Film Comment magazine.

quick, somebody better than I at Photoshop make a LOLcat for this. Bonus points if you do it with a pic of Jeff’s cat.

  14. Everything wrote was very logical. But, think about this, what if you added a little content? I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your website, however suppose you added a post title to maybe get people’s attention? I mean custer’s last stand :: hollywood elsewhere is a little plain. You should peek at Yahoo’s front page and note how they create article titles to grab people to open the links. You might add a video or a pic or two to grab readers excited about what you’ve got to say. In my opinion, it would make your blog a little livelier. how to hairstyles | world of tanks cheats

  15. While the vast number of drivers want nothing more than dependable, economical transportation, many of us are looking to OBD2 for extra performance. Earlier on-board computer systems had chips that could be replaced to adjust engine parameters for extra speed and power. While the

systems are sealed and do not allow chip replacement, they do provide a real time data acquisition system that is useful to tuners.
