Wells to Angie Han

What do you mean people should take the comments I recently passed along about Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah “with a grain of salt”? Are you thinking Matty Libatique isn’t a straight shooter or someone to be trusted? Because he’s only a dp and isn’t the heavy-hitter authority that Aronofsky is? Or are you thinking…what, that I was drunk when I spoke to him? (I wasn’t.) He said what he said and I said what I said during the last Oscar Poker.

  1. Seems obvious – they don’t want to put their necks out for something that’s second-hand info. Even if you are one of those hands. Which to me, sounds fairly responsible.

  2. They want to report the story, but don’t want to take the hit if it ends up (for whatever reason) not being true.

Anyway, this is the way movie news is “reported” circa 2012 — it’s a joke (for that matter, so is Slashfilm).

  3. You might not wanna go with the “are you saying I was drunk because I wasn’t” protest. Makes you look a little defensive, especially since Han didn’t refer to you as “frequently soused” or any such thing. You’re losing your own mind game when you do that shit, man.

  4. Ha ha. Wow. Let’s put this in the context of a different recently debunked rumor regarding the cancellation of The Goon.

“Are you thinking Paul Giamatti isn’t a straight shooter or someone to be trusted? Because he’s only the star and isn’t the heavy-hitter authority that Fincher is?”

See why these things should always be taken with a grain of salt, regardless of how authoritative they appear? Take your ego down a notch.

  5. Jeff: I believe you, but it sounds like a mess of a production. “You know what the story needs? To be an action movie like John Carter! And Noah can kick ass and take names!” Still don’t get why anyone thinks another Ark movie would be popular after Even Almighty bombed. Especially from the guy whose only big hit was a remake of Perfect Blue. Did Paramount just forget about audiences skipping The Fountain?

And personally, my favorite Aronofsky update is him having to buy back his own apartment from his ex-wife.

  6. It hilarious that DZ sees himself as a blogger. Almost as funny as Jeff thinking that everybody should take his every word as gospel.

  7. Lupo: Used to do online columnist work, but I soon learned it doesn’t pay shit. Have to feel sorry for people at Huffpo who took ten years to realize that, though.

  8. DZ – It does pay, if you have something to say that someone gives a shit about. Comparing every film in release to some obscure anime…. not so much.
