Falsetto

An amazing spot. I’m so hip it took me a whole month to catch up with it. I don’t even like Las Vegas, but I’ll be thinking about the Cosmopolitan if I go there again. (Which isn’t likely.) Hats off to Fallon, Minneapolis, director Steven Alsyon, chief creative officer Darren Spiller and…who else?

Here’s the first Cosmopolitan spot I could find, which appeared in the fall of 2010.

  1. Oh man, I hate this fucking commercial. The other one bugs the shit out of me too. I have no desire to go to Vegas but at least now I know which place to avoid.

  2. Love Vegas, hate this commercial. Very douchey, especially regarding the main dude with his weird side-buzzed haircut. Bellagio or Caesar’s and you can’t go wrong.

  3. Maybe it’s childish of me to repost after getting deleted (hopefully innocently) along with spam, but I love how Wells is won over by a commercial designed to lure in the kind of mooks that make him miserable.

  4. I’ve been to the Cosmopolitan, and I don’t think you’d dig it, Jeff. About a hundred different interesting design ideas crammed together into one overcrowded, over-frenetic, ADHD space. It is the casino equivalent of shakey-cam. I admired a lot of different elements about it and couldn’t wait to get out of there.

  5. I’ve never been anywhere as depressing as Vegas in my life…. full of roided-up frat boys, degenerate gamblers, junkies and the saddest women you’ll ever see, yeah, but what makes it really depressing is the feeling of *hopelessness* that just permeates every space and faux facade. Why would any well-adjusted adult visit Las Vegas, to surround themselves with miserable people who think maybe, just maybe, God has bigger plans for them, that they are just one pull or roll of the dice away from kissing their overbearing wife and hateful boss goodbye forever?
