First time I’ve seen Santorum exhibit something resembling humanity. That reporter is such a douche. He knew exactly what he was doing in quoting Santorum completely out of context. Way to spot right-wingers the chips to double-down on their criticism of the NYT for the next half century.

The clip above cuts out what Santorum said directly preceding what Zeleny quoted in the question. Santorum stated in full, “Why would we put someone who is uniquely – pick any other Republican in the country – he is the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama.”
It’s clear that “uniquely” refers to how the President’s administration took the health care system Romney created in Massachusetts and used it as a blueprint for the Affordable Care Act. Anyone who’s paid cursory attention to this race and the players knows this. Zeleny saw an opportunity to warp Santorum’s words and took it. Shithead move.
Posturing. Santorum is a desperate campaigner who needs free media time because he doesn’t have enough bucks in the campaign coffers.He couldn’t ger re-elected to te Senate- lost by 18 points.
