  1. I think I’d rather just watch Lost & Delirious again.

Who needs the “vampire” when you already have “boarding-school lesbo”?

Piper Perabo, Jessica Pare, Mischa Barton > those girls

  2. saw this at TIFF ’11. i would encourage you to not bother with this one, as it is a steaming pile of nothingness. so disappointing. how can you have a beauty like lily cole and do nothing at all with her? i couldn’t believe the dearth of interesting elements in this film.

  3. Actually there are FOUR things you find in every vampire story:

Sex, blood, death and SUN BURNING THE EVER UNDEAD SHIT OUT OF VAMPIRES.

Fucking Twilight shit ruined vampires. There are RULES, people. Rules. If those rules aren’t followed, the book or movie can be the scariest thing EVER but it AIN’T a vampire story.

    Blech.

  4. To be fair, Herzog’s NOSFERATU and BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA both played fast and loose with the sun rule years before TWILIGHT. TWILIGHT’s most egregious sin was making the main vampire an emo wuss. Gary Oldman’s Dracula was a bit of a crybaby, but he could be preternaturally vicious when he needed to be.

  5. Not just the movie BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA. The actual Dracula written by Bram Stoker has it too. He isn’t killed by sunlight, just weakened by it.

  6. I can deal with sunlight weakening vampires as long as that’s the only sacrifice. But really, it’s got to be noted, it can’t be just papered over, it’s got to factor into the story in some SIGNIFICANT way.

The rule can’t be arbitrarily dumped just because the vampire movie DP forgot to bring his night lenses to the shoot.

  7. After going out of your way to push your anti-HUNGER GAMES agenda, do you really think local flacks who have fantasy films (especially ones aimed at girls) coming out think inviting you is a good idea?

I think Jeff doesn’t believe these people actually read the film blogs, that it’s like the old days when guys like him flew under the radars of PR people.

  8. It all happened before. The cute girlie that’s going at a school, the nice English teacher, the preoccupied colleague and even the peremptory old castle. But wait, there is another girl, who is kind of creepy and some dark secrets start to be revealed. Overall, a good film to watch with your girlfriend. Who knows, she might like it.

  9. It seems that the movie is quite enjoyable. Once I was the biggest fan of the horror movies, but then something happened: either I grew up, or the movies aren’t as good as they use to be. I can’t wait the end of the week to see how this movie is going to be.

  10. I understand that the book is very good and those who saw the movie told me that is very good. I’m curious how an adaptation of Rachel Klein’s novel would be, knowing that most of the adaptations can be improved. I hope that here it isn’t the case here.

  11. I saw the movie recently with my friends. Maybe I wasn’t expecting it to be a horror movie, but there were some scenes that were quite good. My friends are all at college but they didn’t read the novel. For me, Rachel Klein’s novel seemed better than the movie.

  12. I must admit that this isn’t exactly my kind of movie. I prefer the science-fiction movies, but with more technology and a better plot. I saw this one with my girlfriend and she was quite happy, but I think there are a lot of better movies.
