Listen to Benjamin Walker‘s Abraham Lincoln voice in this recently-released trailer for Timur Bekmambetov‘s Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter (20th Century Fox, 6.22). He almost sounds JFK-like, but Lincolnesque? Not if you buy the old story about the 16th President’s son, Robert Todd Lincoln (1843-1926), having heard Raymond Massey perform on stage and being “struck by the close similarity of Massey’s speaking voice to that of his father.”
How dare they get the voice wrong. Why, it’s almost as if they’re not going for historical accuracy!

a couple well informed insiders have broken the story (as a counter to all the ‘wrong voice’ clatter) that timur bekmambetov actually asked the studio to digitally recreate raymond massey’s voice (mostly from the dr. kildare tv series) so that it spoke all benjamin walker’s dialogue. walker’s mouth would move but it would be massey’s voice we heard.
studio axed the idea due to cost
bekmambetov was furious
i don’t blame him. his artistic integrity was compromised on this one. i hear he may take his name off the movie.

I have not read the book but have heard that the vampires used the slaves as a food source and that’s a big part of the book and film’s plot, hence why Fox hasn’t shown any of that in the ads.
