Foreign Looper

Somebody at Cinemacom (or was it after Cinemacom?) told me that Looper was a lot better than Total Recall. Damnation with faint praise? Maybe. How did he know this? He didn’t — he was just passing along what he’d heard. So it’s all bullshit, right? Maybe not. Looper might be half-good, pretty good or just plain good. Or at least fair.

  1. It’s an excellent trailer. Didn’t realize it’d be as “big” as this. Like the futuristic cityscapes and whatnot.

Levitt’s makeup is still a bit distracting, but he seems to have done a pretty good Willis impersonation without lapsing into SNL-style parody. He really is great.

  2. Side-note-ish, but is anyone else here stoked that Rian Johnson is directing another Breaking Bad episode this final season?

  3. So is there bad buzz on Total Recall? Thought the new Bourne movie was pushed back a week because Universal didn’t want to go up against it.

  4. Better than ***2012*** Total Recall? Yup, faint praise.

Better than ***Verhoeven*** Total Recall? NFW.

Here’s MY issue: we ALL KNOW what young Bruce Willis looked like, we lived with him for years. JGL is the same age as Willis was during Moonlighting. JGL DOES NOT LOOK LIKE WILLIS.

Jeff hates on movies that miscast sibilings parents and children ALL THE TIME, and he lets THIS fly??

  5. I agree with the resemblance issues being a problem for me.

A better option would have been going with a father/son acting combo. Looper starring Charlie & Martin Sheen would have been epic or maybe even a Tom & Colin Hanks team-up?

  6. I dunno. It’d be nice if the film took place outside of the cornfield. This isn’t a low-budget affair like The Outer Limits.
