One Decent Joke

I laughed at “I believe that hors d’oeuvres is pronounced orr-du-vorrays”…and that’s it. Otherwise the energy in this skit was so low (Paul Simon was sleepwalking) that it reached out of the screen and just vacuumed my soul and cleaned me out. I couldn’t move after it was over. I was forced to sit on my couch for 20 minutes after it ended, waiting for my system to recharge.

Don’t know why you submit yourself to this torture.

    • Browncoat

Seriously… just stick with Fox and Friends in the morning, even more laughs.

      • DuluozGray

I know, I hold some right wing views, therefore I am evil and love FoxNews!!!! FOXNEWS FOREVER!!!!!!!

Go back to watching Firefly you fucking geek.

Ironically enough, Dulouz, you ought to know some right-wingers hold that show in esteem.

          Libertarians are the happiest folk!

  • DukeSavoy

These guys are studs? This had no zip or energy. Did anyone care? Pace by Xanax. Did they pull Simon from a dementia treatment just prior to? One thing that hasn’t departed yet is the little man’s arrogance. That was heartwarming.
The only one with any edge at all was Alec Baldwin.

  • George Prager

The Caligula skit was pretty damn funny.

  • http://nevermindpopfilm.blogspot.com/ Colin “Fitz” Biggs

This was one of the year’s funniest episodes, I’m hoping you kept watching after the monologue.

  • Edward Klein

I stopped watching years ago. Not worth the trouble of finding snippets of comedy.

“SNL hasn’t been funny for years” guys are almost as annoying as “I don’t even OWN a TV” people.

      • chien_clean

Yea both guys are pretty smart.

      • punkedup

Not as annoying as guys who pull out that chestnut.

      • Raising_Kaned

Ironically enough, I think they are a lot of the same people.

I guess I’ll be different and try to advance this theory: SNL was never really sustainably funny. Like, ever.

Has anyone here actually tried going back and revisiting the old episodes of “classic” sketches with their favorite cast?

Here’s some free advice: don’t do it.

        • joeybot

Yeah, there’d be about one or two funny sketches, maybe. And the rest was awful.

I can’t believe you passed on a chance to rip Aykroyd’s alarming size.

  • zantetsupowaa

Personally, I’d just appreciate the idea of seeing these comedy legends together for what could be one last time. And considering the bad luck afflicting other SNL actors in the past, they’re very lucky to be there, indeed.

  • Gil Padilla

It was sad, watching the has beens all together. Even Hanks. And how big is Akroyd? Wow, eat a salad. But Timberlake did ok, so what if you didn’t like everything, he at least did it. You try it.

  • joeybot

Jeff couldn’t move afterward, he was so drained by that sketch?

Wow, you really are a fancy boy, aren’t you?

  • jermsguy

I liked Steve Martin’s attitude through the whole thing. “Do you play the banjo?” “No.” “Ah, so you don’t know everything.” Didn’t recognize Candice Bergen until he said her name.
