This is all so fucking juvenile.
Slow traffic day.
Composure is overrated.
What’s the point of this being put on the blog?
Will you two kiss already? You can cut the sexual tension with a knife.
Glad I have no interest in Twitter.
When a boxy classic is raped into 1.85…I’ll be there.
When a troupe of Hispanic Party Elephants keeps good citizens up into the wee hours…I’ll be there.
When a beefalo befouls a bucolic setting with their jiggles of tonnage…I’ll be there.
When grey running shoes turn ordinary streets into a cavalcade of walking tumors…I’ll be there.
When a restaurant discriminates against carriers of pear cake…I’ll be there.
When cowboy hats are no longer emotionally vivid…I’ll be there.
When Vinessa Shaw does a topless scene…I’ll be there.
Given Wells’ usual negativity, I think it’d be more accurate to list everything he WON’T be there for. Gold toe socks… slow drivers in parking structures… etc. etc. Call it “The Whines of Wrath.”
It seems strange to me that fellow journalists spend their time hating on each other so much and so much so as they post the hate actively on another’s place of business.
I realize Mr. Jeff brings some of this on himself with his get-off-my-lawn, semi-intolerant Yippie schtick, I guess this comes with the territory, but still, man…
Can’t lick Wells. ‘Cause he’s the people!
Thats because Wells is not a journalist but a blogger so any attention is good attention…
I finally made it!
I was thoroughly confused by this whole exchange. Not getting Tom Joad, not getting Elmore Leonard…and I really missed the boat on “little Twitter bitches.”
Who is this Ali Arakan clown who seems to be popping up everywhere recently? Seems to insert himself into Twitter beefs regularly, appears to be a genuinely unpleasant person. Somehow spoofed his way into writing reviews at RogerEbert.com, including a dreadful pseud’s take on Kick-Ass 2.
Anyone else hope that RogerEbert.com would only be a collection of his reviews?
That whole site has become a sort of disaster. Led by the pretentious Matt Zoller Seitz.
So Seitz reads here.
It’s become a bit of collection of deliberately contrarian critics and weirdly aggressive rants that don’t seem to jibe with Ebert’s fairly gentle style. Too much disparate content too, lack of a unified focus, and some truly rancid contributors like Arakan.
‘ATTICA! ATTICA! ATTICA!”
Is Glenn Kenny the biggest troll of all time?
The two of you need to do a monthly podcast. Please make this happen. TIA…
Wells is a “humanist”? “Too sensitive”?, “the Tom Joad of Hollywood journos”?…wow, this page beats the best humor sites on the web…
I actually like Kenny, but what in the fuck is he doing? He said he would quit this website, fair enough. But he’s still reading it and commented about posts from this site so I have no fucking idea why he thinks that this is that much of a difference between what he said he would do and what he is doing now. And I agree with GOD ELOI: no one gives a shit what a talentless, charmless hack like Arikan thinks, especially when he’s lowering the bar for criticism not by building his own brand like other internet douches, but by shitting on the legacy of Roger Ebert.
I miss the Wells-Poland feud.
Jesus wept, stop taking screenshots of tweets. https://dev.twitter.com/docs/embedded-tweets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storify.
