Braff Kickstarter Pic Added to Sundance Slate

Zach Braff‘s Wish I Was Here, the film that became semi-notorious when Braff asked for Kickstarter funds last May to help finance it, has been added to the Premieres section at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival (1.16 through 1.26). Braff wound up raising $3.1 million from 46,000 supporters. Directed by, cowritten by and starring Braff, the 30something identity crisis dramedy costars Josh Gad, Kate Hudson, Joey Kiing, Mandy Patinkin, Jim Parsons and Ashley Greene.

I never actually saw his kickstarter push. Pretty funny. The media really went after him, had I actually seen this, I would have probably had a different opinion of the whole situation.

my god Sundance is such a joke these daya. it so long ago jumped the shark. maybe one entrant a year qualifies as truly independent. the rest are simply big budget star vehicles without the explosions.

Films are pre-vetted into Sundance by their ability to get stars attached to them. That’s the Sundance way of filtering now.

I liked “Garden State” when it came out, and I’ve chipped in to a few Kickstarters and indiegogos, so I said fuck it and gave Zach $30 for this. Fuck you all.
